THE FIRST SMALL TURBOFAN IN THE WORLD TO BE CERTIFICATED BY THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION, THE CF700 TURBOFAN ENGINE WAS DEVELOPED AS AN AFT-FAN ENGINE TO POWER THE ROCKWELL SABRE 75 VERSION OF THE SABRELINER AIRCRAFT, AS WELL AS THE DASSAULT FALCON. THE CF700 TURBOFAN ENGINE WAS ALSO USED TO TRAIN MOON-BOUND ASTRONAUTS IN THE APOLLO PROGRAM AS THE POWERPLANT FOR THE LUNAR LANDING TRAINING VEHICLE.
THE CF700-2C, CF700-2D AND CF700-2D-2 ARE AXIAL FLOW TURBOJET ENGINES WITH FIVE MAIN BEARINGS SUPPORTING AN EIGHT STAGE AXIAL FLOW COMPRESSOR, A TWO STAGE TURBINE COUPLED TO THE COMPRESSOR AND A FREE-FLOATING SINGLE-STAGE AFT FAN. WEIGHING IN A T APPROXIMATELY 735 LBS., THE CF700 ENGINE PRODUCES A MAXIMUM TAKE-OFF THRUST OF 4,200 LB.
THERE ARE OVER 400 CF700 AIRCRAFT IN OPERATION AROUND THE WORLD, WITH AN EXPERIENCE BASE OF OVER 10 MILLION SERVICE HOURS.
